I have been involved in music and theatre since I was a 5yr old in the cherub choir at my church. Voice is my primary instrument and is what I studied for the last 15yrs or so. I received my Bachelor’s in Voice Performance from Western Carolina University. I was given the opportunity to perform in La Traviata with the Asheville Lyric Opera and also received a scholarship from the Asheville Arts Society, performing at their winter gala. From NC, I moved to NYC to do my Master’s of Voice Performance and Master’s of Vocal Pedagogy from NYU. NYU gave me the biggest opportunity to teach undergraduates Voice and allowed me to expand my knowledge of performance and a healthy voice.
I wanted to gain the skills of teaching voice and learn the workings of it in the body. I want to give the skills I have learn to the students I teach. I have a very forward, no holds back approach to my teaching. I love to push my students forward and teach them to be Smart, Healthy Singers. Through Musical theatre, Classical or Pop. Though I studied Classical music, my main stage background is Musical Theatre. I love how Musical Theatre and Opera transcends the world of reality and takes out to a new realm of imagination, crazy possibilities and brings you a sense of relief. It’s my therapy. I want to show my students the power of performance and song. I always am my students’ biggest cheerleader!
