I began piano lessons at the age of five years old and began teaching others in high school. Voice lessons followed in my early teens and a passion for classical singing. I graduated from the University of Michigan with B.M. and M.M. degrees in Voice Performance and headed to New York to begin my career with a cover contract at the Metropolitan Opera. I completed my training at the Juilliard School on an opera fellowship. I have been teaching and performing throughout the years and now treasure my work at iSchool for Music and Art!
The teaching philosophy that I employ is tailored to each student according to level of skill, personal goals and genre preferences. The approach to each person is unique, supportive, and technically based on sound principals learned from master teachers in the field of music. A balance is sought between technical skill and musical expression to enable the student to sing or play the music they love without the burden of technical blocks and impediments. This work is inherently physical and holistic for any performing artist!
