I started playing violin at the age of 4. I tutored violin in high school, and graduated from Purchase College for Violin Performance. My parents forced me to study with whatever famous teachers they could get their hands on, whether it be from Juilliard or from various parts of China. Back then, being a child, I hated the violin for a long time even though I was pretty good at it. It was a love and hate relationship. The more you know about something, the harder it is to hate it. Luckily, after I became more independent, more mature, I found real enjoyment in my instrument.
I try to be the teacher that I’ve always wanted. I believe I’m able to connect to students because I’ve been in their very shoes. I find the appreciation for what my parents and teachers put me through. I hope to engage students and help them find the appreciation for music.
